The origin of the Community

Oworonshoki is situated along the Lagos Lagoon, at the foot of the third mainland bridge in Lagos State, Nigeria. Oworonshoki fisherfolks are mainly Ilaje people. Fisherwomen in Oworonshoki are into the capturing of crayfish, periwinkles and crabs. Periwinkle and prawn fishing is a significant aspect of the local economy in Oworonshoki, with fisherwomen often using traditional methods such as handpicking or traps to harvest these delicacies.
