Isale-Akoka

OUR HISTORY

The origin of the Community

Isale-Akoka is a fishing community situated opposite University of Lagos, Akoka and established parallel to the longest bridge in Africa, the 3rd mainland bridge along Lagos lagoon Nigeria. The community is primarily inhabited by families who traditionally relied on fishing as their main source of livelihood. Isale-Akoka fisherfolk use local and modern methods such as canoes, nets and outboard engine fiber boats to catch fish and aquatic animals such as periwinkle, crabs etc.
