The Safe Environments Initiative is a community-based intervention led by Enatta Foundation to improve the living and working conditions of women in Lagos’ fishing communities. It seeks to respond to a major pressing challenge, which is the overgrowth of water hyacinth that disrupts fishing activities.
The programme integrates environmental management with economic empowerment strategies tailored to the specific needs of coastal women. The initiative will focus primarily on the clearing of water hyacinth on along fishing waterways and its transformation.
