Adijat Adeola Okuyelu

Our founder, Adijat Enitan Okuyelu, is the visionary leader of the Enatta Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to empowering women in underserved riverine communities through financial and infrastructural support. A Chartered Management Accountant and accomplished business leader, our leader brings over twenty years of experience in finance, strategic management and global leadership to her work in social impact.

Her professional journey began in 1999 when she joined Maynard Leigh Associates, a people-centred consultancy based in the UK. Over the years, she has progressed into her current role as Director of Finance & New Global Initiatives, where she leads with a unique blend of financial insight, cultural intelligence and innovative problem-solving. Her work has taken her across the UK, Nigeria, India and the U.S., shaping her inclusive approach to leadership and community development.

The Enatta Foundation emerged from her first-hand encounter with the hardships faced by Nigerian fisherwomen in underserved communities. Moved by their resilience and unrealised potential, she founded the organisation to provide women with the resources, tools and support they need to thrive. One of the foundation’s flagship initiatives, the Boat Project, began with the donation of just two fishing boats and has since expanded to 16 boats across 8 communities in Lagos, Nigeria. This project has significantly improved access to profitable fishing zones, increased household income and enhanced financial stability for women and their families.

For our leader, success is not only evaluated by economic indicators but by real stories of change which include women gaining independence, children accessing education and communities building collective strength. Her work with the Enatta Foundation reflects her deep commitment to creating sustainable and empowering situations where purpose and action come together to uplift lives.
